Stanford University has announced the academics who rank in the top 2% among scientists worldwide. There are 10 academics from Ondokuz Mayıs University on the list, with 5 academics from our faculty.
The list, titled "World's Most Influential Scientists," was published in the Elsevier database by Professor Dr. John P. A. Ioannidis and his research team at Stanford University. It includes 190,000 scientists who rank in the top 2% among scientists worldwide in 22 main disciplines and 176 sub-disciplines.
Published on October 19, 2021, by Stanford University in the Elsevier database, the list is categorized into "Lifetime Impact" and "Annual Impact (2020 Publications)" based on the citation year 2020.
The list was compiled using fundamental and serious international criteria, such as the number of quality publications, the impact factor of the journals where their articles were published, the number of citations to their work, h-index, hm-index, the number of patents, the number of first-author and single-author publications, the number of cited publications, and the impact factor of the journals where cited publications were published.
In the list created by considering only "2020 publications" of scientists, 190,063 scientists in the top 2% were ranked. In this list, 1,150 faculty members from Turkey made it to the list, including 10 from Ondokuz Mayıs University. In the ranking based on the work scientists have done throughout their careers, 828 faculty members from Turkey and 10 from Ondokuz Mayıs University were included among 186,177 scientists.
